YANA OSMAN - ANTON KHAMCHISHKIN

We work with gaps in storytelling, filling in the unsaid and uncovering narratives suspended between real and imaginary, facts and speculation. Our method is the archaeology of the unfinished — the restoration of lost meanings and the pursuit of what lingers beyond the boundaries of what has been told.

Our works can be described as multimedia-essays, where film, images, sound, poems, performance, and installations help to capture personal and collective silences, forging new connections where stories once faltered.

Yana Osman

Bachelor Degree in Political Journalism. Master Degree in Media Communication. Oxford Fund Fellow.

Born to an Afghan father and a Russian mother, Yana spent her childhood moving between three different countries, an experience that shaped her artistic vision. This state of being “in-between”— between nations, languages, and cultures, between war and peace, absence and presence, childhood and adulthood — became central to her creative practice. In these fluid spaces, she seeks connections between people, objects, and places, between documentary and fiction, personal and collective memory. Through her work, which began in childhood with short stories and gradually expanded into various media, Yana reveals the invisible threads that bind everything together and reminds that no story ever truly ends.

Anton Khamchishkin

Anton was born at the very end of the Soviet Union in a small town called Ozhereye. Ozhereye translates to "necklace," but if a necklace is not worn around the neck, it becomes a circle framing emptiness. The town itself was such a frame — bearing a beautiful name, like many places in the Soviet Union, but hollow within. A utopia filled with absence.

At the age of ten, Anton received his first camera, a moment that marked the beginning of his artistic journey. He graduated as a civil engineer but later pursued a career in film as a cinematographer, working on over 20 feature films, shorts, and series. During one project, he met Yana Osman, who invited him to shoot her film. This collaboration evolved into a lasting creative partnership, where together they expanded their practice, exploring new mediums and forms, weaving together their different cultural experiences and journalistic, engineering, and artistic background.
